Frequently Asked Questions About Fire Inspections
Find answers to your questions about fire protection and safety systems, fire inspections, and more.
What are fire protection systems?
A fire protection and fire suppression system is any extinguishing system or appliance that can detect smoke or fire. Some fire suppression systems sound an alarm, communicating to local fire authorities and to occupants to seek help and/or evacuate. Fire protection systems also include appliances that help prevent fire and smoke from spreading.
Why conduct a fire inspection?
Fast-acting systems rely on proper maintenance. A fire inspection by a qualified and trained fire professional is essential to ensuring that your fire system activates and sends notifications to the relevant authorities to save lives and property.
Also, your insurance coverage could depend on whether you have conducted your annual fire inspection. If your property catches fire, but you didn’t conduct your annual fire inspection, your insurance could rescind or limit their coverage, stating that you’re responsible for conducting your annual inspection, and because you didn’t, they won’t cover you.
In other words, don’t give your insurance company a reason to deny coverage. Your coverage depends on whether you conduct your annual fire inspection.
Who inspects, tests, and maintains fire protection systems?
A certified and trained fire suppression specialist is responsible for the upkeep, functioning, and proper operation of fire suppression systems. You may see technicians with a National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) certification, or you may not, depending on your needs.
Our staff have experience meeting National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards by conducting thorough inspections, maintenance, and service on fire suppression systems.
What happens if issues are found in a fire protection system?
A fire protection specialist will make recommendations for repairs. You’re responsible for ensuring that your fire protection system is up to code. Doing so will protect your tenants, employees, assets, and processes if and when a fire emergency occurs.
What is NFPA 25?
NFPA 25 refers to requirements that ensure a “reasonable degree of protection for life and property from fire through minimum inspection, testing, and maintenance requirements for water-based fire protection systems” per the NFPA’s website. NFPA 25 also sets the standards for who is qualified to conduct inspections, testing, and maintenance on water-based fire protection systems.
What areas do you primarily serve?

But if you need us, we’ll go there. We’re expanding, so you can expect to see us soon in a city near you.
How often should I have my fire suppression system inspected?
At a minimum, fire suppression systems should receive a fire inspection at least once a year. Ideally, fire suppression systems should be checked quarterly to ensure every part of the fire system works according to manufacturer specifications.
